Original Film's Synopsis:
Charlton Heston stars as Taylor, an astronaut who crash-lands on a mysterious world where intelligent apes rule... and hunt primitive, speechless humans for sport. Soon, Taylor's life depends on the kindness of the chimpanzee scientists Cornelius and Zira (Roddy McDowall and Kim Hunter) and his escape to the Forbidden Zone, where he uncovers an earth-shattering secret that may hold the key to his own destiny.
Featuring a screenplay by Rod Serling (The Twilight Zone), and Winner of an Honorary Academy Award for Outstanding Make-up Achievement, PLANET OF THE APES is grand entertainment from its visually arresting beginning to the chilling last moment.

View profile »We rented that one, and HD really revealed the flaws in this movie. On more than one occasion, my wife was laughing because she could see distant traffic (including big tractor-trailers) in the wider shots of the city scenes.
I'll be getting this POTA box set. While I thought the 2nd movie was a bit of a joke compared to the first, I really enjoyed the 3rd for some reason when the focus was back on the apes. Other two were so-so, but certain to be a nostalgic experience for me at the very least.
