Sony used to ship their 40GB Playstation 3 with a free copy of Spider-man 3 on Blu-ray.

They had a similar offer with their DBP-S300 stand-alone Blu-ray player.

Both offers were limited and have ended. New units sold at places like Amazon.com no longer include the free copy.

The Playstation 3 sells for $399 and the Sony DBP-S300 (Profile 1.0) Blu-ray player retails for $499 but can be bought on Amazon.com for $381.46.

Whew, thank God I got mine the day after Thanksgiving. Sucks that it wasn't the 2-disc version, but for free I won't complain too much. I'm actually one of the few people who were very disappointed but enjoyed it anyway.

LMAO, you will get NADA from SONY anymore. Prices going up on everything that is Blu. The PS3, you won't see that thing drop either like it was supposed to drop. You asked for it, now dig really deep in them pockets!!!

I agree, with no competition there is less incentive from the Blue ray camp to lower their prices or provide any additional incentives like free DVD's. Now that they do not have to fight for the HD market share, it will take longer for the prices to come down.

Hey Perfect, with your name I would guess you are a Blu Ray supporter? If thats the case, there are a few, what I like to call rebel rousers, that are Blu supporters that need to read your comment. That was absolutely outstanding that you made that comment Perfect. A Blu Ray supporter who does not spin anything around, instead he calls is like he sees it. Thanks was a PERFECTBLUE comment.

You just have to know that Sony is going to release the Extremely Limited Edition "Transformers" P$3 to try and jump start their sales.

The Sheeple will be lining up for that one...

Still $399 though, don't expect any give in the $$$ department.

This has probably been mentioned on another thread already, but here's a brief Gizmodo news report about the Playstation 3 > on June 12 the 80GB model returns bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4 and a DualShock 3 controller - all for $499.

Blu-ray haters/whiners - just continue to ignore all things Blu...
