With "Star Trek: The Original Series (Remastered)" hitting the streets this week we wanted to follow up on that free remote and a possible season two date.
Starting today, when consumers buy any Toshiba HD DVD player and the "Star Trek: The Original Series: First Season" HD DVD/DVD Combo boxed set, they can receive a free limited edition "Star Trek" Phaser remote by mail. With an approximate retail value of $69.95, the 3 in 1 Universal Phaser remote has been preprogrammed to work with any Toshiba HD DVD player and features special sound and light effects from the series.
The offer expires on February 29, 2008, or while supplies last; quantities are limited. For more information and full promotion details:

Season Two:
Rumors have circulated on the Internet and now a date seemed to have slipped to retail stores. So if this holds true Trekkies will be able to enjoy Season Two on HD DVD and DVD this March 25th. Details are limited at best but the word is that it will be as impressive as season one. We will of course bring the full story when official details arrive.
Lastly, we expect our own full review of "Star Trek: The Original Series: The Complete 1st Season [Remastered - DVD Combo]" arriving any hour now so stay tuned.
Please Note - More details:
Be sure to check out the full details under related releases.

This is pricey, but Santa might be good to me. Question: Is there any way that we cvurrent HD DVD player owners can qualify for the Phaser Promotion?

I'm pretty sure you can get the remote without having to buy the HD DVD player but I'm still searching for it...
You see videos of some episodes here... Khan! http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/TOS/episode/68708.html
About the remote, I can't seem to find it right now but I'm pretty sure you can get it without having to buy the HD DVD player. However that may have been a limited time offer?
