Following the teaser for "it" we posted earlier today... Here it is, the full Theatrical Trailer for "Avatar."

Watch new full trailer for AVATAR now »

Synopsis:
AVATAR, a live action film with a new generation of special effects, takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery as he leads an epic battle to save a civilization. James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of "Titanic," first conceived the film 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, AVATAR delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

As an ad for a video game it looks great, as a movie preview it looks extremely fake.

I went to the 15 minute 3D screen a few months back for this film and let me tell you, these small trailers don't compare to the actual 3D viewing! I was blown away and I think this movie will be a smash hit. You have to admit that James Cameron goes above and beyond, Im so tired of seeing the same movies made over and over again especially sci fi, this story looks original and the experience is like nothing you have seen before. This 3D film is going to set the standard. When i first heard there was a movie about Titanic coming out I thought OK I know how this story goes, be again he took us somewhere else. Good job James Cameron!

The mixing of the live actors with the CGI characters seems really distracting, I don't know if I will get past that.

i downloaded the HD trailer from IGN, and put it on my zune HD (and it looked flippin sweet on that).... however, i jacked it into my xbox 360 so i can play it in high def, and lemme say, it does look quite gorgeous!

i still can only imagine how it's going to be extremely better in 3D (let alone IMAX 3D). i'm still gonna see it... cause hey! james cameron still knows how to make movies after all!

It looks better when you've had a few drinks. Sober though, forget about it.

There are many story/plot hints in the new trailer.

These people mine out rocks that cost millions back home, and these creatures have a village right on top of the biggest deposit.

We now know that Mrs. Weaver is responsible for the Avatar program and that our main character from kansas gets promised a new pair of legs in exchange for his avatar-infiltration services.

He goes in, fells in love with this blue chic, and defends the village with his other human buddies who sided with him.

I have to say, although it looks kinda super-sharp and the colors are far too bright to be called "photo-realistic", i re-winded the trailer a couple of times to watch the Na-Vi talk because the animation/facial expressions look damn awesome, and this is on a 27inch full HD TV. I am under the impression that on the big screen the effect will be multiplied.

Now that the story is clearer and the progression of the story has been told in this 3 act trailer lacking only the ending bits (probably one of them dies, Cameron will never give u a perfect happy ending) i know exactly what to expect from this movie. Him getting recruited, arriving at the planet, me discovering the technology and the world along with the character, getting the avatar, realizing that his new-found body abilities are amazing (screw the real legs, this is 100 times better) falls for the girl, the corporation behind the marines does smt bad to trigger the others to help him (prolly a montage in a small-scale battle scene showing humans literally obliterating na'vi's accompanied by sad music...cut to close ups of the group thinking "what am i doing") and a climactic battle that will last approx 20-30mins that will result in the ending im expecting.

(References to IRAQ and OIL are apparent, perhaps this is Cameron's "little" Post-911 - oil war movie)

Bottom line, im literally becoming a "sheep" and watching this in a theater for one reason only. It's Cameron. I still have faith he's not a complete fruitcake yet and that he'll favor story and give me smt new, even in the subtleties.

Yes, Coaster, I have faith in Cameron's abilities too. He hasn't let me down yet as far as major movies go.

I'm betting the main character never goes back to his human body(maybe even his human body gets destroyed). He instead will leave his mind in the avatar.
