According to recent reports on both Home Media Daily and Fangoriaonline.com, the original classic 1954 Japanese monster film, GOJIRA, will make it's Blu-ray debut September 22, presented by Classic Media, who previously released it on DVD in 2006.
The Blu-ray edition will include similar extras as the DVD, but will not feature the English-dubbed version "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". Rather it will be just the original Japanese language version [contains scenes not seen in the USA version], with English subtitles.
Home Media Daily reports:
The original "Godzilla" movie, Gojira, comes to high-def Sept. 22, from Classic Media, with distribution by Genius Products. Remastered in high definition, the uncut Blu-ray Disc version ($29.93) includes 40 minutes cut out of the original American release.
"Gojira is arguably the most important monster movie of all time and it has an enormous fan base," said Robert Mayo, SVP of home video for Classic Media. "The fans have been asking for this pop-culture favorite to be released on Blu-ray."

"GODZILLA is still the most awesome of tacky movie monsters..."
—Owen Gleiberman (Entertainment Weekly)
Film Synopsis:
The legend begins...
Civilization crumbles as its death rays blast a city of 6 million from the face of the earth!
The ocean's surface boils white-hot and a Japanese freighter mysteriously vanishes in the Pacific. Rescue boats meet the same fate, and the superstitious villagers of Odo Island fear an ancient legend has come true: the legend of Godzilla! Reawakened from eons-long sleep by an H-bomb test, the behemoth seeks revenge on the civilized world, turning Tokyo into a wasteland of atomic fire and rubble. Caught in the monster's path of destruction are young lovers Emiko and Ogata, who must betray their friend, Dr. Serizawa, a brilliant but tormented scientist, in order to save the world.
Classic Media presents the original and uncut Japanese-language version of Ishiro Honda's Gojira (1954), critically acclaimed as a bold anti-nuclear allegory and one of the greatest monster movies of all time. Also included is Godzilla, King of the Monsters (1956), the popular "Americanized" version starring Raymond Burr as a reporter covering Godzilla's rampage.
