The HD DVD camp issued a statement according to CNET responding to Netflix and Best Buy's decision to back Blu-ray over HD DVD.
We have long held the belief that HD DVD is the best format for consumers based on quality and value, and with more than 1 million HD DVD players on the market, it's unfortunate to see Netflix make the decision to only stock Blu-ray titles going forward. While the Best Buy announcement says they will recommend Blu-ray, at least they will continue to carry HD DVD and offer consumers a choice at retail.

You've got to be kidding! That's it-that's the whole statement? I can't believe this. Unless Toshiba has something spectacular up their sleeve, then this statement is like a death knell.
I've been an HD-DVD supporter since the first players shipped. I've loved the format and the up-scaling, but if this message is the only way they are fighting, then stick a fork in it-it's done.
On the other hand- I don't intend to buy into blu-ray until they get the format working properly-meaning all the features that HD-DVD had from day one, and until the prices on both players and discs come way down.

Or Jay we can look at it like this, they don't seem to be worried about it so maybe we shouldn't either.
They might have something big up their sleeves but I doubt it. I too love my HD DVD player mostly cause of price but I'm not an HD bible thumper. It's like I keep saying in my other posts, I jst want to be able to choose that's all. I don't think I'm asking a lot.

It does kinda sound like Toshiba isn't too worried. Either it's because they have a fantastic wham-O idea coming up, or they have simply given up and are just trying to figure a way out of the hole they dug themselves.

Pathetic! Toshiba has no fight in them. They expected everyone would buy their product just because it's complete(superior) and cheap? They probably thought Microsoft would back them too but everyone knows that it's dangerous to team up with that company. Microsoft is known to stab fellow companies in the back or leave them to whither away. Unless Toshiba has a surprise like paying off major studios to come back to HD DVD, it's over. My fellow HD DVD lovers....enjoy the time we have left :-(

I didn't complain. I said I honestly didn't think they were going to do anything? How is that complaining? Anywho, I think this is a clear message now to the HD DVD camp, that's it finally time to start doing something.... Onece retailer support is being swayed, wow they have their work cut out for them...

OMG, some of you people. This is nothing new. Like I said in the other thread, Best Buy and Circuit City have been Blu Ray bias for a long time now. We all know that SONY has the juice, and GOODY GUM DROPS for them. But just because BB comes out, finally, and admits they will now push Blu Ray. Well they should have done this a long time ago. This is nothing new, and they will still carry HD DVD, until TOSHIBA SAYS IT"S OVER.
