New data shows that the price of Blu-ray players has been in an upward trend since HD DVD's demise.
The data from pricegrabber.com that shows the average price of a given player for a given time.
TG Daily collected the data, which shows an upward trend in price for Blu-ray players.
On January 1st 2008 (Before Warner chose Blu-ray) the average price of a Panasonice DMP-BD30K player was $401. On March 2nd it was up at $495. The Sony BDP-S300 shows a similar trend with a January price of $307 and a March price of $386. Many of the players were also sold with free Blu-ray movies in January but these offers has ended as well.
The only Blu-ray players that seem to have fallen in price in the period are DUO players (that play both HD DVD and Blu-ray discs) from Samsung and LG.

View profile »but(and this is a big but) yesterday i purchased a 1 month old hd-a35 with two free films(still wrapped) and the voucher for seven more.for a measley £50(most decent upscalers cost more)
i will now wait out this price hike period by purchasing some VERY CHEAP hd-dvds to fill in the gaps on my collection.and the A35? well that sits great on the spare shelf of my tv/dvd stand and will make a good bedroom player in the future
i must point out that adopting blu WAS the right thing.i would be gutted if i had paid £200+ for a A35 and then would have to fork out another £200+ for a blu-ray player
