UPDATED: Cover art and audio details.

Paramount will release "Patriot Games" and "Sum of all Fears" on Blu-ray this July 29th.

The movies looks to be released separately and so far only two of the Jack Ryan films have been announced.

Patriot Games will have a Theatrical Trailer, a featurette and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound. No extras have been announced for "Sum of all Fears."

We will return when details arrive on the last two films in the series. "Hunt for Red October" and "Clear and Present Danger."

Synopsis:

Patriot Games:
Harrison Ford stars as Jack Ryan in this explosive thriller based on Tom Clancy's international best-seller. His days as an intelligence agent behind him, former CIA analyst Jack Ryan has traveled to London to vacation with his wife (Anne Archer, Fatal Attraction) and child (Thora Birch, All I Want For Christmas). Meeting his family outside of Buckingham Palace, Ryan is caught in the middle of a terrorist attack on Lord Holmes (James Fox, The Russian House), a member of the Royal Family. Ryan helps to thwart Holmes' assailants and becomes a local hero. But Ryan's courageous act marks him as a target in the sights of the terrorist (Sean Bean, Stormy Monday) whose brother he killed. Now Ryan must return to action for the most vital assignment of his life: to save his family. Costarring James Earl Jones (The Hunt For Red October).

Sum of all Fears:
Ben Affleck is ready for action, commanding the role of CIA agent Jack Ryan in this thrilling adventure based on the Tom Clancy bestseller. America's Cold War fears are rekindled after the President of Russia dies and is succeeded by a man with a cryptic past. But East-West tensions erupt when the CIA suspects that renegade Russian scientists are developing more nuclear weapons. Mobilized into action by CIA Director William Cabot (Morgan Freeman), Jack Ryan (Affleck) follows a danger-ridden trail to a shocking conclusion: terrorists plan to provoke a war between the U.S. and Russia - by detonating a nuclear bomb at a championship football game! Costarring James Cromwell and Liev Schreiber, The Sum of All Fears adds up to the year's most explosive entertainment.

That's funny, Amazon sent me a shipping update that the HD DVD order I have in for the JRC box set is the same day as the Blu Ray one is supposed to be.

I wonder if they are still looking to unload a warehouse of the HD DVD versions in time with the Blu ray releases.

I have called Amazon several times on this order and they keep insisting they will have the HD DVD JRC collection in stock, they also keep my HD DVD order of Bee Movie open on their system as well.

Amazon insists that it has not been canceled or discontinued either, they are simply awaiting the stock to arrive so they can ship it.

When Universal canceled future HD DVD releases, Amazon canceled all open orders.

When Paramount/Dreamworks supposedly canceled future HD DVD releases, Amazon is keeping the orders open, insisting they will still be getting them in stock to ship.

What gives here????????

VC... I read on other website blogs recently that many who had Amazon pre-orders for the Bee HD-DVD have now, in fact, received cancellation email notices. Don't know if this affects you, or been overlooked, or if you still might receive it, but others who pre-ordered have now seen their orders cancelled.

Jimi, I would believe it as you said with the exception that I have called them to confirm an obvious mistake on their part, and they keep insisting that there is no mistake, they are waiting to get stock on hand so they can ship.

Both the JRC and Bee movie.

You CAN'T place a new order, you CAN cancel the existing order, but they insist that they are expecting to receive stock, and ship all existing orders that are already placed.

They tell me the JRC HD DVD set ships 7/29, but they don't have a ship date for Bee Movie yet

If it's a computer f-up, I would have thought 3 phone confirmations would have gotten it corrected by now.

I'll only have to wait and see, at least they don't charge you for anything unless it ships.

If the JRC HD DVD box set falls through, I'll buy the Blu ray one instead.

If the Bee HD DVD shows up, I'll be selling it on Ebay

Hey Falcon (and others)...

> THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER (Blu-ray)
FYI - DVDTOWN has had the disc details (and cover art) up for viewing for at least a week now... (and it includes the Amazon link to the pre-order page on their site). Also, the other 3 movies in the series.

Remember everyone, to check the MOVIE DATABASE link near the top of DVDTOWN, and then (just below) click on either "Release Calendar" or "Cover Art Calendar" for forthcoming titles on DVD and Blu-ray. I believe the Release Calendar always has more titles listed, since cover art is not always available at the time a new title is added to the release list.
