now all we have to do is wait for them to realise we ACTUALLY wanted the extended editions

but i can understand that some people would prefer the theatrical cuts.

but on Blu Ray?

Couldn't they just release both versions together via seamless branching? Was it too much to ask for a 50GB blu-ray?

I bet these will be on sale rather quickly after the release date because people are going to wait for the Extended Editions on bluray instead.

Its interesting why they haven't release the EE.

2011 marks the 10th Anniversary for LOTR: FOTR. It wouldn't be a big surprise if they released some Utlimate collectors edition to celebrate it. So logically, they should have released the EE versions along with this and cash in on the 'Ultimate Edition' 2 years later. So what's keeping them?

Hope they don't intend to keep us waiting for the EE till 2011. That would be criminal.

In a few weeks, Warner Bros. is planning to make an annoucement about their plans for a Blu-Ray release of BOTH the Theatrical and Extended Editions of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Quote:
There has been a tremendous and very vocal backlash on Amazon to the announcement that only the theatrical version of LOTR would be released in blu ray.

Hundreds of potential customers rated it a ONE star purchase and were nearly unanimous in stating that they would NOT be buying this package and resented the greedy, double-dipping market strategy being employed by Warner in only releasing the theatrical version.

I have never heard of this site so it must be true.
