Stan Glasgow, president and chief operating officer of Sony Electronics, said to Financial Times that they were talking with Microsoft about a possible Blu-ray drive for the XBOX 360.
But after Sony´s victory last month in the high-definition DVD format war, Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics US president, said the two sides were now talking about Microsoft adopting Blu-ray.
A Blu-ray drive in a 360 would make Microsoft more competitive with the PS3, but it would also mean extra revenues for Sony´s electronics division. It would also add further cost to the 360, meaning a premium edition of the console could be necessary.
However, he may have talked about a possible deal a bit to early. A Microsoft spokesperson commented the claim with:
"We have made no such announcement. Games are what are driving consumers to purchase game consoles and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available."

I would be nice to have it on the 360. But Microsoft didnt put HDMI v1.3 in the Xbox, so there is no way to get HD audio from the Xbox. So for now I think the best way to watch Blu Ray would be on the PS3.

That is truely a funny statement to make. It's the PS3 that clearly needs to be more competitive having only sold less than half as many units as the Xbox 360.

I think this would be good news for Sony.
All that extra license money that would be brought in would go a long way
towards developing the Play Station 4 since this has a high chance of being a death blow to the
PS3. Since I like many of you bought the PS3 to use 90% of the time for its Blu feature.
A 360 add on would be plenty good enough for the lions share of people out there. And unless it was sold in a bundle that jacked the price up to the PS3 range consumers would flock to it.
Keep in mind the 360 add on is one the easiest peace of hardware to hack. It would just be a matter of weeks if not days before people would start adding them to computers and such.

This kind of news is not worth reporting. It's a bog standard corporate answer from a company that is not denying or admitting to the rumors.
