Sony claims that they talking with Microsoft about a Blu-ray drive in the XBOX 360 product line. However, Microsoft says that there is no truth to the story.
Aaron Greenberg, Group Marketing Manager for Xbox, talked with Reuters and said "Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience,"
"Microsoft, which has stopped making an HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox 360, would continue to invest in its Xbox Live online service that already lets users rent hundreds of movies, including ones in high-definition." according to Reuters.
"We're the only console offering digital distribution of entertainment content," Greenberg said.

First they are talking, then they aren't, then they are and now they aren't. I just wish they would make up their minds and people would quit reporting until they heard a final decision. My guess is that they won't do it for a while as their focus has been downloads via XBL and right now it's too cost prohibitive for them to incorporate Blu-Ray with the 360 (internally or via add-on) without losing a bunch of money.

There will be a Blu Ray drive for the 360 faster than we see Star Wars on Blu Ray disc. There is to many rumors and articles about Microsoft adopting Blu Ray, and to believe Microsoft denying this idea is just as believable as Toshiba saying they have no intentions to step down from their HD DVD production.

I thought MS was in talks with blu ray to adopt the format for the Vista. I never heard Xbox in the talks. I think people just assumed that MS meant Xbox and vice versa, but I am 99% sure that MS NEVER was in talks to put blu ray in Xbox, just in windows.
I could be wrong but that was my take on the story.

I agree. XBOX supporting Blu-ray would be like Sony talking to Nintendo about using the Wiimote technology on the PS3.

Sony wants Microsoft to support Blu-ray more than just including drivers for Windows Vista because they want to try to get as many Blu-ray drives into homes before the studios have a chance to relies that HD format is going nowhere quickly.

Sweaty-Developers x3 man was running his mouth and the PR people at Microsoft are playing clean up.
Eventually we will see an add on for sure.

There would have to be some solid incentives from Sony before this would happen. Think about it, adding Blu-Ray would hinder the progress of their high-def downloads via XBL which they have been pushing harder than anything else. Furthermore they would have to either receive some solid kickbacks from Sony or sell the drive at a ridiculous price in order to make up for their losses elsewhere.
