Synopsis:
"Robin Williams is Hysterical. Sheer Genius. The Film is Fall-Down Funny." - Joel Siegel, Good Morning America

How far would an ordinary father go to spend more time with his children? Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) is no ordinary father, so when he learns his ex-wife (Sally Field) needs a housekeeper, he applies for the job. With the perfect wig, a little makeup and a dress for all occasions, he becomes Mrs. Doubtfire, a devoted British housekeeper who is hired on the spot. Free to be the "woman" he never knew he could be, the disguised Daniel creates a whole new life with his entire family. Outrageous, hilarious and often touching, Robin Williams makes this box-office hit a film to be watched again and again.

While this was a cute and funny movie, wasting the energy to put this on a high def disc makes about as much sense as putting Mystery Men on high def disc...did someone owe someone a favor

I think pretty much every movie can benefit from improved PQ and AQ, so to say that certain (less flashy) titles shouldn't be released in high-def would be missing the point. I would enjoy a period drama on Blu-ray as much as I would enjoy seeing explosions and special effects from action and sci-fi flicks.

It goes nearly hand in hand with the Special Edition on standard def 3/4. If you're already going back to the film and cleaning it up for a new presentation, then why not make it ready for high def AND release it? Makes sense.

Hey, I liked Mystery Men too..in fact, I own a copy on VHS and DVD

But my point is, does the movie benefit from being re-released on a High Def format?

I can see Mystery Men benefiting... but not Mrs. Doubtfire.
