Microsoft announced a new partnership between its XBOX 360 gaming console and Netflix.
The exclusive partnership offers Netflix subscribers the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the television via Xbox 360. Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix subscribers at no additional cost.
The service will give access to 10,000 more than feature films and television shows. It will be available this fall.

I have been waiting for this for a long time. Hopefully there will be some form of high-def programming available in the near future. Now if we can get Netflix to put newer movies available for this type of viewing we can skip the discs, the mail cost(for them) and the hassle of movies shipping from across the country.

I've been doing this for months with my PC and believe me netflix only has the smallest amount of movies and shows available for streaming. Honestly with XBOX 360's performance history I would'nt dream of turning it on except for playing games.

OK...Sounds cool but.... I live in Canada and we don't have Netflix?!?
Zip is the equal to Netflix here in Canada but are they in with Microsoft?
I have so many questions!
I have not really looked into this and figured you guys would know if anybody does. If we Canadians can also take advantage of this cool anouncement from Microsoft and Netflix, sign me up.

Well, Tony, I've owned an XBOX 360 for well over a year and a half with no problems whatsover.
On the other hand, the drive in my 40gb PS3 died after 4 months into it's 1 year warranty, and I had to send it in to Sony, only to get a refurbished PS3 with a 90 day warranty. Since I only really bought it for Blu-ray playback in the first place, I have since sold it to a friend of mine, and used that money to buy a Samsung BD-UP5000 dual player and have never looked back.

I just looked around and found out that as Canadians, we are left out in the cold.
Unless Netflix comes to Canada, there will be no added video service to our accounts period.
I don't think Microsoft will further develop the video service on Live after Netflix signed up so this announcement means ZERO north of your border.
Just sucks is all.

Silverado -
Thanks for checking Silverado as I was interested in this also being from Toronto. Somehow I think Microsoft will offer us Canadians something like the Netflix streaming, maybe from zip.ca like you mentioned. I hope they do.

I'm not a 360 hater, I play 360 now and then, I just don't believe in buying something that a company did not perform a QA check on and they knew it could fail. To me that's underhanded. As for the PS3, I've had my trouble with it as well. I never hid the fact that my unit went down, heck, even I posted things here that made PS3 owners suggest that I was pro 360. Bottom line is I'm actually pro PC because I fix them all the time, but I just so happen to own a PS3. M$ is a very shady company.
Especially when it comes to Windows. I have Microsoft programs (Picture It 2000) that will not work with XP or Vista and their excuse is it's an old program, but it's a very popular one too. I can't stand M$ and other than Windows I won't buy any software from them let alone a video game system.
