Online Film Critics Announce Annual Award Winners

NEW YORK, January 8, 2007 -- "United 93" won Best Picture in the 10th Annual Online Film Critics Society Awards. The Online Film Critics Society (OFCS) is the international professional association of Internet-based cinema journalists which has been voting to honor worthy films and filmmakers since 1997.

Martin Scorsese was named Best Director for "The Departed," while the acting awards went to Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland" (Best Actor), Helen Mirren in "The Queen" (Best Actress), Jackie Earle Haley in "Little Children" (Best Supporting Actor) and Abigail Breslin in "Little Miss Sunshine" (Best Supporting Actress).

No single film dominated this year's awards. "United 93" won only one other award, for Best Editing. Three films also received two awards apiece: "Little Miss Sunshine" (for Best Breakthrough Filmmaker and for Abigail Breslin's performance), "Pan's Labyrinth" (for Best Original Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film) and "Children of Men" (for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography).

BREAKTHROUGH FILMMAKER: Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris - "Little Miss Sunshine"

BREAKTHROUGH PERFORMER: Sacha Baron Cohen - "Borat"
