First, some have reported playback problems with the new "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World´s End." Some Samsung and Playstation 3 players seem to be affected by the problem. Our very own review copy will not play in the Samsung SBD-P1200. The previews play, the menu screen shows up, but there's no response when you click "play movie" or "show menu." It's the reason why our review of the "At World's End" Blu-ray is still forthcoming.

We've been told that Samsung is working on a firmware upgrade, but we have yet to hear from Sony. Should you have an issue with your copy of the movie, be sure to call Disney's tech support number at 1-800-723-4763.

A typo can also be found on the back of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World´s End." The cover art lists the movie as being a 1080i transfer. Rest assured, it is in gorgeous 1080p video. Disney will not call back the affected copies but, of course, correct it with the next batch.

Now, remember the framing issues with "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" on Blu-ray? Disney is hard at work making new discs with corrected framing. The studio will exchange your copy of the movie if you have an affected disc. For more details call Disney's tech support number at 1-800-723-4763.

Hey Henning,
If you're going to dink Disney for typos you might think about proofreading your own critique.
To wit:
"Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black"
Just a thought, but then again you're not selling me anything.

Althought the POTC: AWE movie itself played fine on my 2.01 ps3 40 @ 1080p/24, there is something definitely screwy with the menu navigation system of this title. I remember last night pressing (I think?) the top menu button on the talking skull & crossbones guy, and the screen temporarily went black for a second or two before it reappeared. Kinda scared me for a sec, since I'm never experienced a playback clitch on the ps3 yet. Luckily, apart from that everything else seemed to work normally.

They have problems, so what? They are replacing the discs, so no problem with that. And some people seem to really hate blu...chill people! Remember that all of us have the power to stop this, we can either buy just one format or none at all! And just a thought, how hard would it have been to give DVD extra layers so that it could acommodate more info? Was it so difficult?

I'm glad that I bought the $98 HD DVD player at Walmart...but I support BLU!
