Playstation 3 uses almost five times more power than a energy friendly fridge... Oh, and that is in standby mode. Research from Australia finds other power hungry consumer electronics.
Coming in second is the XBOX 360 and third are plasma screens.
So, with oil and energy costing the same as gold (well, almost...) it might be a good idea to turn the power completely off when not using these devises in a longer period.

Wow. Incredible for such small devices but I guess with all the computing power they both have (PS3 and XBOX 360) it kinda makes sense.

Yeah, but does it have a freezer compartment? Or a vegetable keeper? Ha! I'll keep the old fridge.

Well, xbox 360 is starting production of the third revision (third motherboard with lower power consumption chips) which should cut down significantly on the power usage. It's called the Jasper I believe. I think someone here mentioned this before. August is the start date for that production so if you havn't gotten one yet and want to...wait a bit longer, lol.

Yeah I brought up info about the Jasper motherboard when a pricedrop was mentioned. The old 360's consumed alot of power.

Have you seen the massive brick the 360's have attached to their powercords? That thing alone looks like a small generator.

Fridges dont use as much power as you would think.
Also my ps3 is like at least 8 times as fun as my fridge so I think its a good deal.

Don't forget that it states this energy consumption is when the game consoles are in standby mode. I'm guessing when you play a game or watch a movie/video the consumption goes up a lot higher.

I just flip the switch on the PS3 to OFF when I'm not using it.
Problem solved.
