On October 14, AnimEigo will release the classic Japanese film "Revenge of a Kabuki Actor" on DVD.
Synopsis:
From master director Kon ICHIKAWA (The Burmese Harp, 47 Ronin) comes a beautiful and poignant tale of tragedy, seduction, and betrayal. Set against the breathtaking visual splendor of Kabuki theatre, "Revenge of a Kabuki Actor" (a.k.a. "An Actor's Revenge") redefines the period film, and creates a stunning multilayered portrait of extraordinary human emotion.
While performing in a touring kabuki troop, leading female impersonator Yukinojo comes across the three men who drove his parents to suicide twenty years earlier, and plans his revenge on them.
