UPDATE: Apple did not announce any notebook or computers with a Blu-ray drive. In fact when asked in a Q&A Apple said "It's great to watch the movies, but the licensing of the tech is so complex, we're waiting till things settle down and Blu-ray takes off in the marketplace."

Original post:
Apple will announce new notebooks on October 14th and the rumor mill is spinning full power.

Apple site MacRumors.com says that Kevin Rose, co-founder of Digg, has said that the new Macbooks will feature a Blu-ray drive.

Kevin Rose was very accurate predicting details regarding the latest iTunes and iPod updates and is regarded to more reliable than most.

Apple has supported Blu-ray from early on but is yet to announce any hardware products supporting the format. On Tuesday we will know if that will change anytime soon.

Another Blu-Ray rumor that turns out to be false. Looks like the format war is not over, its just between downloads and Blu-Ray.

Apple and Microsoft don't care about optical media. They both want downloads to take off.
