If Blu-ray is on your horizon but you can't afford to make the switch yet, Disney wants to make the transition easier.
For the first time, the studio is including a standard edition DVD copy of a film along with the Blu-ray. Both the Blu-ray and the two-disc Platinum Edition DVD will be available on Tuesday, October 7.
As with Digital Copies, it's yet another experiment to woo new Blu-ray customers and expand Blu-ray's appeal.
Fans wanting to see the 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition Blu-ray of SLEEPING BEAUTY who don't have a Blu-ray player yet will be able to buy the Blu-ray and start watching the fully restored, 2.55:1 enhanced version of the film on the extra disc, until their system is ready to play the 1080p version.
