Sony has released a new firmware upgrade and lowered the price of its BDP-S350 Blu-ray Player.
The firmware upgrade makes the player BD-Live compatible. However, since the player lacks internal storage you need to buy your own USB flash-based memory and add that to the player before it works.
Sony also lowered the price of the unit to $299.99 from $399.99.

October 1 - UPDATE
More information from blu-ray.com...
Sony Electronics has dropped the price of their new BD-Live (Profile v2.0) Blu-ray Disc player - the Sony BDP-S350 - to $299, and have lowered the price of the upcoming Sony BDP-S550 BD-Live Blu-ray Disc player to $399. These reductions represent a discount of $100 off the previous MSRP, and match those reductions set in place by Panasonic a couple weeks ago.
The main difference between the two players is that the S550 has 1GB of storage internally, 7.1 analog outs, and support to decode DTS-HD Master Audio. Those opting for the S350 will have to purchase their own external memory (which is a minimal cost these days) in order to take advantage of BD-Live features.
The BDP-S350 is available now, while the BDP-S550 is expected to ship around the end of the month.

I'm telling ya guys. Wait till January and these babies will be under $200. I will not be buying a Sony but possibly a Panasonic. I know some of you cannot wait that long as Christmas time may cause you to buy earlier. For those that can wait I think it will be worth it. What do you think?

Nope, Insignia/Funai clone for me today...
...no Ethernet port, but I'm OK with it, since I hope that by the middle of next year most new b-r player models will be profile 2.0, hopefully, oh, and cheaper than $200...

I just read the review on CNET for this Sony player. They had links to the stores it's available at online and I clicked on www.ABT.com where it only costs $263.12(shipped). Not bad but I cannot push myself to buy a Sony (It's against my morals, lol).
