First up, Blu-ray. Sony would not discuss exact numbers yet but confirmed that it was the best selling Blu-ray title from the company yet. We will have to wait a few days to get exact numbers.

On DVD, Virgin senior product manager Chris Anstey said that "Transformers" was a phenomenon. It sold three times more than Spider-man 3 on the first day.

However, it is believed that Spider-man 3 will continue to sell through the holiday season and pick up in numbers.

More when the first week sales numbers comes in.

Everyone get ready for the Sony spin-zone. They haven't released numbers because PR is busy spinning.

Paramount didn't release Transformers numbers until the 26th, IIRC. That's six days after the end of release week. Why don't we give Sony the same time frame?

Tim,

We both have all day, apparently. This is gonna be fun. And then next week with Disney (Ratatouille), the week after with both Paramount AND Sony (Shrek/Close Encounters)...and so on.

Some days I just wanna shake my head and give up on this instant news generation. Or the fanboys. Probably both.

honestly? So what? So what if the first day numbers are short and the first week numbers? We'll talk when the 12/31 numbers come out. What matters is who wins, not who is off to the best start.

And why exactly does it matter who wins? For PR bragging rights? Neither movie is really very good, and I doubt that either one is going to determine the course or outcome of the format war.

On the other hand, everbody likes to watch a good horse race, and this one seems as good as any for the fannies to enjoy. Besides, as the fannies get heated up, it'll give our official Fanboy Police something more to do, and we wouldn't want to leave them out of the discussion.
