The numbers for the first week are in. "Spider-man 3" did well but fell short of "Transformers" both in HD and on DVD.

"Spider-man 3" becomes the best selling Blu-ray title with 130,000 copies sold in the first six days. "Transformers" did 190,000 units on HD DVD in the same timeframe. Some have speculated that the "Transformers" numbers are exaggerated, but proof has not been presented and Paramount says that they have double checked the numbers.

On DVD Sony was more reluctant to reveal specific numbers, but said that the standard DVD version sold 4 - 5 million copies. "Transformers" did 8.3 million on DVD.

speaking of which, everyone always says Spidy 3 was worse than the first two. I only saw the first one what was so bad about #3?

For me it was the mix of characters. The share number of villains made the story messy and muddy.

Also, I find it hard for Spider-man to keep up his coolness. He has no gadgets and at the end of the Spider-man 3 you sat thinking that the real cool hero of the movie was the Green Goblin.

But don't listen to me. I found Spider-man 2 the only worthy movie of the trilogy and find the Batman and Superman movies to be much more entertaining in the superhero genre.

this going to be interesting now. Spider-man 3 sold like 130K copies and that does not include free copies with PS3. sony also made it clear that they shipped 400K Spidey BD discs. it outsold transformers. i take these numbers with a grain of salt but I am sure that HD-DVD boys will come out and say that Sony lied. let the fun begin

Oh boy, I can hardly wait until Mr. Blu Canada comes in here and bends the truth on Spiderman 3 not outselling Transformers. He will probably give us some info on how it outsold Transformers in Iraq or some other third world country.

It was expected that Spiderman undersold Transformers.

The movie was bad, period (yes, character development, the 'cool' Peter Parker , the ten thousand 'coincidences' , and the singing Mary Jane, ugh , and yes the green goblin was the coolest, and in my mind, he will be back from the 'dead' in the fourth movie). Spidey 2 is the best, followed by 1 then 3.

Pirates 3 was waaay better.

Transformers was the most entertaining of the three.

Hopefully they'll make it right in the fourth movie.
