Review...
» 2006 T2 Theatrical Version Blu-ray Review »
(from DVDTOWN staff reviewer Dean Winkelspecht)
EXCERPT: "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is a film that I enjoy a great deal. It is one of the finest blockbusters to grace the Silver Screen. The special effects and storyline still hold their own after over a decade. The decision to make Arnold a good guy character was something that did not guarantee success. After all, his portrayal of the ultimate killing machine was the basis for the success of the first movie. The liquid metal T-1000 was also a gamble that ultimately paid off. There are certainly better action movies out there to be served with your popcorn and I personally believe that Cameron's own "Aliens" is a superior film, but "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is a classic Sci-Fi Actioner that finds Arnold in his prime and it is a film that no matter how many times you watch it, it is still highly entertaining.

Film Synopsis:
I'll be back...
(sequel to "The Terminator")
Skynet, the 21st century computer waging a losing war on humans sends a second terminator back in time to destroy the leader of the human resistance while he is still a boy. His mother is the only one who knows of the existence of the Terminators, human-like robots that exist only to kill and are nearly indestructible, and Sarah, the boy's mother is currently in a state mental hospital because of her 'delusions'. A second protector is sent back to the past by the Human resistance to protect John Connor, their future leader, at all costs.

Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as the Terminator in this explosive action-adventure spectacle. Now he's one of the good guys, sent back in time to protect John Connor, the boy destined to lead the freedom fighters of the future. Linda Hamilton reprises her role as Sarah Connor, John's mother, a quintessential survivor who has been institutionalized for her warning of the nuclear holocaust she knows is inevitable. Together, the threesome must find a way to stop the ultimate enemy-the T-1000, the most lethal Terminator ever created. Co-written, produced and directed by James Cameron (The Terminator, Aliens, Titanic), this visual tour de force is also a touching human story of survival.

Groan. 'Ya think I'm going to quadruple dip on this one? Well, maybe, but not for $175 bucks.

Just thinking: The new Terminator and Star Trek are both coming out within a two week period in May. Looks like I'll finally get to use those movie passes I got for Christmas. Dragging my wife to them, that might be another matter.

At that price the build quality of the T800 better be good. If not I recommend buying the Blu-ray separately and then look for a figure from Side Show Collectibles. http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4488&license=Terminator

Henning, that is the coolest thing ever... ...it's awesome...

Let's hope that this release has the extended/director's cut that the extreme edition has, 'newly remastered' (like it says, THX)...and I'll buy it on the release date, no doubt, also one of my favorite films of all time...

EDIT: Why is Terminator 3 not available in Amazon, and the only available there are +$30??

Yes, they really make great collectibles if you can afford the high price.

I got my eyes on this one.

However, I probably can't find the money for it right now.

Forget that, just another way of milking the consumer for more $$$$. I bought my Blu Ray version of T2 at Wal Mart for $10.00. So what is this version going to offer that the $10.00 version does not? Alot of people complained about Disney packing a SD DVD in their future movies. And I see nothing wrong witht that. My daughter, for example, bought HSM3 over the weekend for $22.oo And she got a Blu Ray copy, SD DVD copy and the over bloated digital copy. So if she wants to watch it in her room she can. And yes, if she can convince me to sit down and watch, she can watch it with her dad in the theater room. But a re-boot of a Blu Ray movie, and we see this alot, that you can get for $10.00 to me thats HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!
