Miramax will release "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" on DVD this April 29th. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
Extras will include: "Submerged: A look inside The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," "A Cinematic Vision" featurette, an "Audio Commentary with Director Julian Schnabel," and a "Charlie Rose Interviews Julian Schnabel" feature.
Synopsis:
Based on a true story, Jean-Dominique Bauby (Mathieu Amalric) was the editor of Elle France. After a major stroke in 1995, he was left completely paralyzed except for his left eye. However, with just his one eye, he was able to blink out his memoir and describe what it was like not being able to move. He also very vividly described wild fantasy worlds he could visit in this mind.

This was my favorite movie of the year. I'm glad they kept the awesome poster art for the cover. The only thing that saddens me is I won't be able to see the exceptionally gorgeous cinematography in high definition. :-( I hope Miramax sees the error of their ways and puts it out on Blu-ray! Do yourself a favor and blind-buy this when it comes out.

I loved "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly", but the movie I'd rather see is "My Stroke of Insight", which is the amazing bestselling book by Dr Jill Bolte Taylor. It is an incredible story and there's a happy ending. She was a 37 year old Harvard brain scientist who had a stroke in the left half of her brain. The story is about how she fully recovered, what she learned and experienced, and it teaches a lot about how to live a better life. Her TEDTalk at TED dot com is fantastic too. It's been spread online millions of times and you'll see why!
