We recently referred to a comment Laurie Fincham, Chief Scientist at THX, made to Home Cinema Choice Magazine. He said that "it's too late for Blu-ray."
Although we did not make the interview with Laurie Fincham and only quoted the magazine THX Ltd. contacted us with their official statement and position regarding Blu-ray.
"THX recognizes the quality and benefits that the Blu-ray HD format brings to the home theater experience. We are dedicated to supporting Blu-ray with new THX technologies and other initiatives. At its very core, THX is about advancing the quality of the entertainment experience, whether that is on optical disc, downloads or other emerging media. I believe Mr. Fincham's comments reflect that broader goal." Graham McKenna, Sr. PR Manager at THX Ltd., wrote in a statement to DVDTOWN.com.

Of course a PR man would make a response like that, Blu-ray currently doesn't support THX certifications, and Skywalker Sound would love to get some of Sony's money also, they don't do their certifications as a charity you know, and they wouldn't want to make BDA feel like their money is not wanted, but personally I would trust a developer over a PR man any day.
