100,000 sold in one day and 190,000 in the first week on HD DVD. It is very good numbers. However, the numbers for regular DVDs just shows HD is far being a major business for studios.
8.3 million units since the title’s debut on October 16. Wow!

View profile »But why would anyone be surprised if the Blu-ray edition of SPIDERMAN 3 does in fact outsell Transformers? Both are major releases, and I believe Spiderman 3 had the larger box office [right?], also has a much larger fan base [from the 2 previous films], and which happens to be released on Blu-ray along with a Blu-ray Box set containing all 3 in the series.
So, what's the big deal if it's a very popular Blu-ray release, and outsells the Transformers HD-DVD? It would only mean bragging rights until another major title gets released and outsells Spiderman 3 [note: which I plan to rent on Blu-ray].
300 is #1 - Also, until Transformers breaks it's record, Warner's 300 is still the highest selling hi-def disc [released on both formats, with Blu-ray outselling the HD-DVD]. So, right now 300 would have bragging rights.
I say buy BLADE RUNNER this December, as it will look remarkable with HD remastering (again available in both hi-def disc formats).

View profile »Xbox 360 is starting to leave all of the other gaming consoles in the dust thanks to Halo, and now you can buy the HD DVD add-on for $179 and get a BOATLOAD of free HD DVDs making it completely worth your while.
I mean seriously, the latest offer I saw gives you Heroes Season One, King Kong, 5 mail-in HD DVDs, plus I think 300 too! If you don't like those movies, just sell them and voilà - you recover all the money you spent for the add-on and then some!
Hmm... and Blu-Ray is better? Pffft... and monkeys might fly out of my butt.
