Wal-mart is believed to take the Magnavox Blu-ray Disc Player, NB500MG9 down to a $128 price tag.

The price is expected to be announced around Black Friday. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving (November 27) and marks the beginning of the traditional US Christmas shopping season.

The new price was disclosed on Bargainlist.com, one of several Web sites reporting Black Friday pricing from select big box retailers, and first reported by DVDTOWN last weekend.

The Magnavox Blu-ray player is one of the Funai-manufactured clones that can be found under various brands.

What about the Sony 350? Thats the player I want and I saw it is going down to 179$ on thanksgiving at K Mart and Sears. My Super Wal Mart also has it but its 298$ Wonder if they will match the k mart deal of 179?

If its a print add for another local store wal mart will match it. Which is yet another reason why it is awesome. Unless of course you are just too good for walmart

You know what else they sell at Wal*Mart? PS3's. If you only use those for movies, doesn't that in effect make it a stand-alone player? And one that's future-proof?

The internal parts of the player are from Panasonic and Sony. Thats what Love Hendrix said right? So I don't see how this player could be classified as junk. This is pretty good news. Hopefully it gets down to $99.99. I want to see the Panasonic players become this cheap.

spoonard,

the funai clones are the only players other than the PS3 that have not choked on any discs. also, considering that the "famous" brands frequently outsource production of dvd players and other consumer electronics products to funai, there's no way that funai makes "junk". .!..

funai is no doubt good stuff but I'd rather have a Panasonic. When they get to $200 bucks that will be great news. This magnavox is missing profile 2.0 and an optical audio connection.
