Speculation started when Warner Bros.' VP of HD Media, Dan Silverberg, hinted that the studio was evaluating its stand on being HD neutral in the format war. It led many to believe that the studio would choose sides.

However, WB spokesman Jim Noogan talked with Video Business Online yesterday and confirmed that they would stay neutral.

He said that the company always evaluated its business models and also did this with HD support, and that he believed the fourth quarter would be important for both sides. The result will be another piece of information on where things are going, but for now the studio will support both HD DVD and Blu-ray.

Makes sense. It's still too early in the game and although all signs point toward HD DVD having a huge spike in player and movies sales they have to ride it out and see what happens. It would be irresponsible for them to just bail on bluray right before theholidays but hey if Paramount and Dreamworks can do it...

Truth be told HD DVD is the better format in every way BUT until they see sales to back it up they're gonna sit and release to both camps.

No, it's like people enjoying their hobby, Blu-ray or HD DVD, which seems to annoy other folks. It's like some people hate to see other people having fun and must constantly belittle them for it. You'll forgive me if I don't share in the belittlers' joy.

Sorry John .. didn't wanna upset you. No disrespect to anyone. Its just same discussion over and over again, same threads created again. There are other viewers who are looking for something to read or discuss. As my friend Eddie pointed out few months ago.. its all gas.. and fans on both sides are culprits. there has to be a balance. unfortunately there is none.

Ranjan, it's called choice. The threads here at the Message Board are pretty well labeled and self-explanatory. Nobody who is not interested in the format wars has to read about WB dropping HD DVD or Toshiba selling an $89 player. They can skip down to a thread they're interested in or start one of their own.

Not everyone likes stamp collecting or listening to classical music, but that doesn't mean we should eliminate the magazines devoted to the subjects or belittle the people interested in them. People not interested simply don't read the magazines. Same here. I mean, it's not like these hobbists are taking up valuable Message Board space or anything.
