Video:
If I have any major complaints about the DVD, then they have something to do with the disc´s video quality. The images have a noticeable amount of grain in them, especially the backgrounds. The action is not always fluidly animated. These defects aren´t necessarily complications that arose during the making of the DVD transfer--they´re due to the age of the show. However, the colors are fairly sharp, and I didn´t notice any artifacts. The video is presented in the 1.33:1 (full-screen on 4:3 monitors) aspect ratio.

Audio:
You can watch the show with either Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo Japanese or DD 2.0 stereo English. There is an option for English subtitles. (I watched it in Japanese with English subtitles.) Most of the sound comes out of both channels evenly. I thought that all the voice acting was good, and I especially like the unique sound of Yuri´s voice. Also, I found the music to be quite enjoyable.

Extras:
There are six bonus items, although only four of them are really "extras". The "Production Profile" section contains about 25 production sketches. "Character Bios" has a face shot and one page of text for each major character. Some of the bios contain plot spoilers, so I recommend that you avoid them until after you´ve finished viewing the DVD. The "DP Flash Trailers" section contains three trailers, one for each two-episode "Act" (the episodes were originally released in pairs). Finally, you can watch the original Japanese opening animation without credits. The only difference from the version used for the episodes on the DVD that I could see was that the words "Dirty Pair" were written in Japanese instead of English.

The last two "extras" are trailers for other ADV Films products and the DVD Credits. I can´t help but feel, deep down, that the costs to master and press the trailers were passed on to consumers, and that´s not right to make people pay for your advertisements. Oh, well, at least there was a trailer for the "Original Dirty Pair", although it was not obvious if the trailer was for the TV series or OVA series.

--Miscellaneous--
The DVD comes with a single-page, colored insert with chapters listings on it.

Film Value:
I have to say, this was a nice DVD to sit down with. The story was interesting, there was plenty of action, the designs for the characters and backgrounds was appealing, and there was even some humor. Having all six episodes on the same DVD was great, too. While I docked the overall video rating for due to some quality issues, I assure you that the video quality doesn´t detract from the experience. If you have the chance to pick up this DVD, take it.
