10) "Giving Up the Ghost"-The ghost of a baseball player who blames his coach for his death takes up residence inside another player's body in order to get revenge.

11) "Cat's Claw"-Melinda thinks about telling Prof. Payne her secret after a ghost follows his colleague back from the jungle.

12) "Dead to Rights"-A man in a coma is more alive than people think; his spirit contacts Melinda, while his wife and parents fight over whether to take him off life support. One of the more obvious "issue" episodes.

13) "Deja Boo"-A young man tries to abort Melinda's friend's pregnancy because this ghost is convinced he's going to be reincarnated as the baby. One of the weirder (and least successful) episodes.

14) "Speed Demon"-Speed kills, as it did one racer who wants revenge on his former girlfriend, whom he holds responsible for his death.

15) "Mean Ghost"-A cheerleader's ghost tries to pick off her former "friends"/rivals one by one, while Melinda investigates.

16) "The Cradle Will Rock"-Similar to one of last season's episodes, a jewelry store employee who died tries to get Melinda to get a message to his wife.

17) "The Walk In"-This time it's a former high school quarterback who's possessed by another ghost. Sorry, but it's one thing to believe a ghost can inhabit the body of a live person, but another to have a ghost haunt a ghost! One of the weakest episodes.

18) "Children of Ghosts"-Ghosts whisper meets dog whisperer in this episode, as a teenaged girl is haunted by a threatening spirit . . . and since she's a houseguest, so are Jim and Melinda.

19) "Delia's First Ghost"-It had to happen. Delia's son, Ned (Tyler Patrick Jones) is haunted about the time Mom starts dating again.

20) "The Collector"-Melinda meets her male counterpart, but it turns out he doesn't quite handle the dead the same way she does. Interesting.

21) "The Prophet"-Now it's a prophet ghost who wants to warn Melinda about impending doom, and ghost whisperer Gabriel returns.

22) "The Gathering"-Melinda and Prof. Payne team up to try to figure out clues left by the prophet ghost, who offers clues at the dark force that threatens to overtake the whole town.

Video:
"Ghost Whisperer" is presented in 1.78:1 widescreen that's "enhanced" for 16x9 televisions, meaning it's stretched to fill the screen. The quality is good for a TV show, with a minimum of grain and deep, rich color.

Audio:
The audio is a Dolby Digital 5.1 or English 2.0 Stereo Surround, but the 5.1 is by far the better sound. The 2.0 is flatter, without as much resonance. Decent treble/bass balance on both, though.

Extras:
For a second-season TV show there are a ton of extras. It's as if everyone wanted to celebrate taking the show in a new, more focused direction. Disc. 1 features a commentary on the season opener by writer-director John Gray and producer Kim Moses that's pretty average. Also on Disc 1 is a "Crystal Ball Mind Game" that's really just dumb (pick numbers, add this, subtract that, and then it leads you to a "symbol" that's your number-so?).

Disc 5 offers Moses again on commentary track for "Children of Ghosts," and director Ian Sander for "The Collector." Sander's is by far the best commentary. Disc 6 offers a bunch of shorter features that are average to better-than-average. "Melinda's Closet" gives you clothing guru Joseph Porro talking about Hewitt's "look." "Ghostly Visions" zeroes in on the make-up artists who try to make living people look dead. "A Conversation with the Living" shows cast and crew members talking about changes in the show. "Grandview Graveyard" is a click-on that gives you backstories to the characters who've died. "The Other Side" offers 8 webisodes, trailer, and behind-the-scenes stuff. And rounding out the extras is another one I don't get, "Jennifer Love Hewitt Speed Painting Video. What's the point?? You tell me.

Bottom Line:
"Ghost Whisperer" is one of those shows where you're either going to become addicted to it, or else it'll turn you off. Are you a believer? Are you willing to believe that ghosts exist, and that someone like Hewitt can communicate with them? That's crucial. If not, it'll seem like a LONG 967 minutes. But this season is certainly stronger than the first. It's scarier, more entertaining and less hokey than Season 1.
