After that, the plot lurches around to having Mimi fight other computers who are also hot naked chicks. The only entertaining moment in the DVD is from the names of three sister computers. They are the Nackintosh sisters, have apples for their symbols, and are named Centris, Quadra, and Performa. In case you didn´t know, those are three actual Macintosh computer models.

There you have it--you now know exactly what this show is about. I suppose I should add that this isn´t out-and-out pornography, but it´s still fairly explicit. Besides, the plot is a weak excuse to tie together naked computer-women and sex scenes. I´ve saved you some time, either because you don´t want to waste your life watching shows this unpleasant or because this sort of thing is your bag. Either way, you´re welcome.

Video:
Originally intended for viewing on Japanese TV sets, "Buttobi CPU" arrives on DVD with a 1.33:1 video ratio (full-frame on 4:3 monitors). There is really nothing wrong with the transfer, but the animation looks rather plain. Nothing glaringly wrong with the print shows up. It´s just that the amazing photorealism of "Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040" and today´s computer-animation films ("Toy Story 2," "Shrek") look so awesome, and "Buttobi CPU" simply can´t match that sort of viewing experience on DVD. However, the new DVD does feature video that is cleaner and clearer than the video of the previous disc.

Audio:
While the soundtrack comes in the guise of a Dolby Digital 2.0 surround mix (the original Japanese or an English dub), the sound field feels stubbornly limited. Most of the sound comes from the front center channel; occasionally, the front left and right speakers get to do some music and effects honors. The mix is active in brief spurts.

Extras:
There is a slide show that advances through a couple of pictures on its own, or you can press the "next chapter" button for the next picture in the gallery. There are some "outtakes" that are flubs by the English dialogue dubbers; mostly, the outtakes feature actors muttering a few profanities when they mess up a line. Finally, there are some previews for "Buttobi CPU" and other Right Stuf titles.

The re-mastered edition of "Buttobi CPU" comes with an insert that provides artwork that is similar to the first American DVD´s cover art.

Film Value:
I got the most kicks out of all the jokes made about the superiority of "Nackintoshes", but even these get repetitious despite the brief running times of each episode (under thirty minutes). Still, "Buttobi CPU" is a very different, very "mature" take on so many of the themes covered by anime artists. While far from "hentai" (hardcore animation) material, "Buttobi CPU" is pretty risqué. Give this a look when you´re in the mood for some light-hearted, sexy action. It´s better than "Charlie´s Angels," man. :-)
