The third disc in the "Last Exile series" contains four episodes, "Calculate Alex", "Swindle", "Develop", and "Discovered Attack". Plot threads start twisting together, even as others are introduced.

Although little is revealed about his past, much less his future plans, Alex Row, the captain of the Silvana, has substantially more screen time. He says little, but always acts confidently and quickly. His crew does exactly what he tells them to do without question. As for what exactly Alex is up to, who can say. Most people seem to think that the Silvana, and all on it, are completely free. Meanwhile, the Silvana seems to be in the employ of the Emperor, or at least working for him.

Another unique trait about the Silvana´s crew is that, unlike everyone else, they consider themselves to be at war with the Guild. The Guild supplies the rest of the world with their technology, while reserving the most advanced technology for themselves. As such, they are almost universally feared. Dio goes so far as to try to assert the Guild´s right to board any ship they please as the reason for his presence onboard the Silvana. However, because of their afore mentioned war on the Guild, the Silvana´s crew take Dio prisoner, which he happily agrees to.

Claus and Lavie separate a little, as Claus wants to fly a combat vanship on the Silvana, and Lavie does not. There´s still so little to go on with these characters. I suppose I may have the wrong impression about the series. I expected Claus and Lavie to be the main characters, though there´s been little enough focus on them. Really, the point of the series so far has been finding out what the show is about.

There are some frustrating things about "Last Exile". The political structure for Guild and non-Guild humans is hardly even outlined. The Guild has princesses, maestros, mysterions, and principals. I´m not certain really who is superior to whom. In the human world, there are dukes, lords, and an emperor. In all likelihood, they have a standard feudal system.

The world of "Last Exile" is definitely a visual treat. It seems to consist of floating chunks of land in a sea of clouds. While there are personal vanships to get around in, there are also massive air ships. Some airships belong to the armies of various nobles. Overall, an Emperor appears to be in charge of the non-Guild humans.

The most significant development on this disc is the mention of a place called Exile, that non-Guild humans think is like Heaven. A possible gateway to, or artifact from, Exile goes up for auction. Alex Row demonstrates an interest in it, pretty much the only thing he´s shown interest in the whole series.
