Video:
The video aspect ratio is 1.33:1 (full-screen on 4:3 monitors). A recent release, this show doesn´t suffer from any encoding errors. However, I was a little disappointed by the colors. The color palette is pretty sparse, even on characters´ faces, which has the effect of making a lot of what you see appear to be two dimensionally flat. Perhaps this was an area more money could have been spent on.

Audio:
You can watch the show in either Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo Japanese or DD 2.0 stereo English. There is an option for English subtitles. I watched it in Japanese with English subtitles. I didn´t hear any problems with the audio. The voice acting is pretty good, too, as far as I know. The music is one of the best parts of the series, and really fits in well with the kind of "music video" feel of the action sequences.

Extras:
Despite being a new title, there are few extras. There are three extras. Two of them are the Trailer: Japanese Version and Trailer: English Version. They show the same footage with a slightly different voiceover. The Japanese Version is in English, only slightly accented. The only difference I could hear was in the title of the series. Apparently, the original title was "L/R: Licensed by Royal". The English version fixes the grammatical error.

The final extra is a small, thirteen picture gallery. The pictures are concept sketches for the series, mostly featuring Rowe and Jack.

--Miscellaneous--
The DVD comes with a single-page, fold out, colored insert with chapter listings on one side. On the inside is a split panel manga (Japanese comics) style drawing of Jack and Rowe opposite from Stratos.

Film Value:
Film Value, the heading says. There are so many ways to go about defining it. Was this disc high art? Will it stand the test of time? I suspect not. However, it was a good old fashioned popcorn piece, of the kiss-kiss bang-bang variety indeed. I can see this series as the kind of thing friends can get together and just enjoy. That´s the beauty of "L/R": you can enjoy it without thinking too hard.
