" . . . the episodes by themselves are interesting and well-written, and I enjoyed getting to watch the Lovely Angels take on contemporary life.

ADV released its second "Dirty Pair Flash" DVD in 2001. It brings back all of the action and fun of the first DVD--and then some. You could probably enjoy most of it without having seen the first DVD, "Angels in Trouble". However, you may not understand enough of the background details, such as what TroCons are or what the 3WA is, so I´d recommend not watching these discs out of order.

This DVD contains all five episodes of what was called Mission 2 in Japan of the "Dirty Pair Flash" series. In order, the episode titles are "Tokyo Holiday Network", "Seventeen Mysterious High School", "Hot Spring Steamy Romantic Tour", "Sparkle Bright Pure Love Flower Shop", and "Hot Pursuit Tokyo Airport".

Kei and Yuri now have a violently stated preference for being known by their code name "Lovely Angels", and not by their infamous nick name, "Dirty Pair", which they earned by causing so much damage during the action shown on the first DVD. Their assignment at the start of the first episode of Disc 2 is to act as the bodyguards for a fellow Trouble Coordinator, a computer genius named Touma. The three have been dispatched to World´s World, a planet-wide theme park that specializes in recreating past cities. At the time of Kei, Yuri, and Touma´s arrival, the only section finished is the late-20th to early-21st century Japan. World´s World called in the 3WA because their computer system has developed a virus that they cannot get rid of.

By the end of the first episode, the three TroCons are stuck on World´s World for a few weeks, and that´s where the rest of the episodes take place. This was kind of an interesting plot twist, since it allowed the show´s creators to basically put Kei and Yuri in contemporary Tokyo, but still allowed for various future technologies as needed. The middle three episodes don´t have anything to do with the overall problem of catching the computer hacker but instead are unrelated stories that focus on humorous situations. They deal with a haunted girls school, chasing down a con man, and helping Touma find love with a flower girl (an episode which proves, far better than an exposition of my own, that you should never, ever ask a girl for advice on other girls). The final episode picks up where the first episode left off, finding the computer hacker. This episode was more serious than the previous three. Still, it does have my favorite comical moment, when Kei picks up and punts a cute little kitten (that is actually a booby-trapped robot) while everyone else looks on in horror.

As with the previous DVD, there are more than enough shootings, explosions, and general destruction to satisfy anyone. There was substantially more humor in these episodes than in the episodes on the first DVD. I liked how to humor wasn´t over the top but was worked into the show, like Kei´s fear of ghosts or how Kei and Yuri react when even total strangers fearfully recognize them as the Dirty Pair. Another great moment is when they ride the Rush Hour Experience ride, which includes being squashed half to death and being groped by a stranger in a train car.
