One thing does seem true-to-form, though, and that's the sometimes difficult situation of having to be brothers or sisters with people you might not even talk to if they weren't in the same fraternity or sorority. That happens here in spades, but there's just a little too much 90210 gloss so that it never feels like real people. You never forget that these are actors just playing college students. There aren't nearly enough "Oh my Gods" and why isn't there more singing? I mean, there's even an old joke that goes, "How many sorority girls does it take to change a light bulb?" Punchline: Twenty-six. One to change the bulb, and the rest of them to sing about it.

Video:
"Greek" is presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio, and the colors are bright and cheerier than most of the action, while there's a decent amount of detail for a TV-on-DVD. No complaints here.

Audio:
Same with the audio, which is more sound than I expected: a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and French/Spanish subtitles. That tells you something, because so many of the Disney offerings don't come with subtitles. Somebody must like this show. The bass is pretty solid, though it doesn't rock the house the way that real frat parties do. Carpets squishy with spilled beer? Ahh, those were the good old days.

Extras:
Disc One offers a commentary on "A New Normal" from executive producer Patrick Sean Smith and actors Amber Stevens, Senta Moses, and Paul James. Disc two features a commentary on "Freshman Daze" with executive producer Lloyd Segan and actors Spencer Grammer, Scott Foster, Tiffany DuPont, and Jake McDorman, and a second commentary for "47 Hours & 11 Minutes" with co-executive producers Smith, Shawn Piller, and actors Jacob Zachar and Dilshad Vadsaria. Disc Three features a short blooper reel, a flashback episode "And So It Begins," and a music video, "Natural Disaster" by the Plain White T's. "And So It Begins" is a featurette that has the producers and actors talking about this being an "origin story," interspersed with clips from the episode and a few behind-the-scenes clips thrown in for good measure.

Bottom Line:
As I said, I had a hard time believing these folks as college students, just as I had a hard time getting interested in the characters or plots. Then too, I'm not in the target age range. Maybe high school students or college students can get hooked on these beautiful people and their sometimes ugly relationships. Just don't try to hop in the car and go to Cyprus-Rhodes University. It doesn't exist.
