Audio:
You can watch the show in either Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo Japanese or Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo English. There is an option for English subtitles. I watched it in Japanese with English subtitles. The sound in this series is extremely well done. The crack of the bat and the sound of baseball against leather glove makes the story come to life. The voice actors are also very well chosen. Each character has their own unique style, and a voice to match. None of the sound seems out of place, and none of it is distorted. Theme music is used very effectively to heighten the emotion of this series and suck the viewer in to the story.

Extras:
Each DVD in the six disc box contains its own extras. Each disc contains a clean opening and closing. The individual discs contain player statistics, Oden cooking, the history of baseball in Japan, Karaoke, Voice actor profiles, original cover art, and trailers. This collection is simply packed with extras. The number of extras is amazing, and well above what seems to be "industry standard". I raise my hat to ADV on a job well done.

Each DVD comes with a single-page, colored insert with chapter listings on it.

Film Value:
"Princess Nine" has exceptional film value. It kept me coming back each episode wanting more. In between viewings, I counted the hours until I could watch more. It completely enthralled me.

"Princess Nine" has what so many other films and series simply lack. This is of course its devotion to character development. The characters in "Princess Nine" grow and change throughout the series. Their lives change, and they become better people. This only seems to heighten the emotion and drama presented in the series. It makes you care what happens to the characters. When you care for a character, and maybe even empathize with them, then the story becomes all engrossing.

"Princess Nine" is a truly great series. It should be watched, even if you have no passion for baseball. By the end of the series, you will.
