The 1.85:1 ratio, anamorphic widescreen presentation is one of the few bright spots on this future drink coaster of a DVD. Set in the swamps of Louisiana, there is an abundance of beautiful shots of marshland, and for a second it may cause you to forget about the eighty-six minutes you are losing to this film.
Audio:
While the 5.1 Dolby Digital sound is fine, it's hard to care or even notice if it does anything but try to be adequate when all the best dialogue is simply ripped directly from the original flick. I'm sure it was meant to be done as a wink and a nod to fans of the original, but it fails miserably. In fact it's more reminiscent of being at your hardworking father's funeral, when your dad's unlikable boss, the man who drove him to an early grave, shows up drunk and begins spilling his drink all over the casket as he starts telling stories about your father that serve only one real purpose--to make himself look better. Or perhaps I'm just taking this movie way too personally.
Extras:
Thankfully, I might even say mercifully, there are no extras, although Sony could have gone one step further and left the entire movie out as well.
Film Value:
Filled with horrible acting by stuntmen pretending to be thespians, jaw-droppingly bad dialogue, music to cover your ears to and piss-poor fight scenes, there is little to recommend here besides the scenery. You'd be better off taking a vacation in Louisiana than watching this drek, and I'd stand by that statement, even in hurricane season. I know "Road House," and you, sir, are no "Road House."
