"Transformers: Armada" ends with an homage to "Transformers: The Movie." The Autobots and Decepticons must join forces to battle Unicron, a planet-sized robot that gobbles up entire planets. Ultimately, Unicron is destroyed and the Decepticon leader, Galvatron, is hurdled into deep space.
"Transformers: Energon" picks up ten years after the defeat of Unicron. The Autobots and Decepticons form an uneasy alliance in order to work together to find Energon (their fuel source). With this new series comes a new look for the show. While the Decepticons receive new paint schemes, most of the Autobots have all new designs. Optimus Prime's trailer now holds several smaller robots (similar to Roller from the original cartoon) that assist him in battle. They can also attach onto Optimus to form a larger robot, sort of like Voltron.
This DVD includes the first four episodes of "Transformers: Energon" and they are:
Cybertron City:
This episode sets up the story so far and debuts some brand new characters. One of those characters introduced into this new Transformers universe is an old favorite, Alpha Q, a member of the multi-faced Quintessons. Alpha Q sends off an army of minions called Terrorcons to attack the other Transformers and steal their Energon. The teen characters from "Armada" are grown up now, so the Autobots need a new annoying human sidekick. They find one in the impulsive Kicker, who moved to Cybertron with his scientist father when he was just a boy. He was miserable there and has since harbored a deep resentment to all Transformers. We also meet a new Ironhide, who is a rookie rather than the battle hardened veteran from the original series.
Energon Stars:
In response to the threat posed by the Terrorcons, all humans are to be evacuated from the mining colonies on the moons of Cybertron. While this is happening Optimus Prime, Hotshot, and Ironhide battle a squadron of Terrorcons on the Earth's moon. They get a little added boost from a type of power battery called an Energon Star.
Scorponok:
Alpha Q's plan is revealed: revive Unicron. In order to do so, Alpha Q uses his newly accumulated Energon to revive a powerful Decepticon called Scorponok. The next on his resurrection list? Megatron. But before that, the bad guys must acquire more Energon. To do so they attack the Energon mine at a place called Desert City.
Megatron's Sword:
