Video:
For an independent film shot on location in dark wooded areas, "Wicked Little Things" looks remarkably good. The widescreen presentation featuring a 1.78:1 aspect ratio never dips into the grayish black that so many other small-budget horror films succumb to. With the film´s sole redeeming feature being its spectacular scenery and decrepit homes, it's gratifying that they look so decent.

Audio:
Both the 5.1 and 2.0 Dolby Digital audio tracks sound fine, but with the slow-paced, uninteresting dialogue being delivered, who cares? The sound effects seem like they came from a collection of premade effects and seriously detract from the film. When the kids are beating or chopping someone to death, there is this silly squishing sound that seems like something out of a Hanna-Barbara cartoon, which incidentally is something I'd rather have watched.

Special Features :
Thankfully, the only extra included is one, lone commentary featuring Cardone and Heuring discussing the film. Right out of the gates, Cardone comes across as pompous, trying to claim that "Wicked Little Things" isn't a horror film. He even shows a slight disdain for the genre, once again proving that this film had no business being included in After Dark's marathon. It's a shame that Cardone's been named the writer of next year's "Prom Night" remake, but given Cardone's unimpressive track record, it's unsurprising that he wouldn't feel secure in tackling an original film concept.

Film Value:
Undeniably boring and formulaic to the point of frustration, "Wicked Little Things" telegraphs every frame of action. People pop into sight right when you'd expect them to, deliver the cheesy lines you'd wish they wouldn't, and die exactly the way they would in any other movie where the director doesn't give a damn. This sleeping pill of a movie and everyone involved is what's hurting horror films these days, and with three of the people from "Wicked Little Things" involved in some of the high-profile horror remakes that are currently in fashion, expect a serious drought of creativity in the genre for a long time to come. If you're looking for a safe alternative to harmful addictive sleep medication, try "Wicked Little Things."
